For the Cake
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
For the Buttercream Frosting
- 1 cup unsalted butter softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 –3 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Red and black gel food coloring
Bake the cake at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 mins using two 9-inch pans.
Cream butter and sugar, then add eggs, vanilla, flour, and milk.
Cool the layers completely before decorating.
Make frosting and tint portions red and black.
Assemble: crumb coat, chill, then decorate top red, bottom white, and add black band with button.
