Puff Pastry Layers:
- 3 sheets store-bought puff pastry halal-friendly
- 1 egg for egg wash, optional
Filling:
- 1½ to 2 cups dulce de leche halal-certified or homemade
- 1½ cups heavy whipping cream
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp alcohol-free vanilla extract
Prepare the Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry evenly and cut into 3 or more equal rectangles. Place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Prick with a fork.
Bake: Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 10–12 minutes until puffed and golden. Cool completely.
Make the Cream: Whip heavy cream with sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
Assemble the Cake: Layer one piece of pastry, spread dulce de leche, then whipped cream. Repeat. Top with final layer of pastry.
Decorate & Chill: Dust with powdered sugar. Garnish with nuts or fruit if desired. Chill for 1 hour before serving.
